Tree Change Doll holiday fun
Monday, June 29, 2015Ever since seeing the original tree change dolls that I posted on Facebook last year I have been desperate to try making my own. Today was that day.
My bestie Peg and I had a great crafty day with our girls where we all get to make our very own unique doll. The results were nothing short of amazing.
We both have never allowed our girls to have the original Bratz Dolls due to how inappropriate we feel they are to young girls. We found lots of unloved dolls in op shops and at the baby market.
I will say that painting the faces was hard, it was difficult for the girls (aged 9 and 10) so we ended up doing the bulk of the painting. We did the whites and blacks of the eyes and they did the rest. I had a lot of do overs before I was happy.
We used a combination of straight acetone and eucalyptus oil to remove the faces and it was very easy. The super red lips and glitter needed a bit more rubbing but it was still fine.
I sewed some super simple dresses and Peg did the styling. Would love to hear what you think.
If you would love a doll but do not have the patience or a crafty/arty bone in your body, Playful Child Dolls will be at the next Piccadilly Market on Sunday 26th July.
We may even be having a giveaway on our Facebook page in the next few weeks so keep your eye out for that.
In the meantime have a look at our photos.
